The official ING Renault F1 Team Podcast is produced at the team’s Enstone factory in the week following the race, and is designed to take fans and newcomers alike to the heart of the team’s performances – and the burning issues in Formula 1.
The 2006 FIA AMD Formula 1 fan survey showed us that over 40% of F1 fans are likely to subscribe to F1 podcasts – while over 50% of people want more behind the scenes features in the pits. When a large majority of F1 fans get their news from the web, what better way to keep them informed than via one of the most popular technologies currently in use?
Each Podcast is designed in a round-table format, to allow our guests to express themselves as freely, and argumentatively, as possible. Executive Director of Engineering Pat Symonds will participate in every round table, joined by another member of the team’s senior technical staff on a rotating basis. We have asked them to speak their minds on a range of topics across the broad canvas of F1, to create comment and, sometimes, a little controversy.
In addition to the regular panel, we will bring you a race analysis from Maurice Hamilton, and an exclusive ‘insider’ interview from within the team, to try and cover a broad range of roles within the team – and take the listener closer to the heart of the action.
In between the back-to-back races, we will bring you shortened podcasts, with exclusive driver and team personality interviews.
What’s more, every Podcast has been designed to maximise the possibility of fan interaction. So if you have issues you want to discussed, or points to be explained, then send in your questions by email to podcast@renaultf1.com – or if you want to hear your voice in the Podcast, why not record a question in mp3 format and email it in to us? The best will be selected to form part of the next broadcast!
The Podcast is produced to the highest, professional standards thanks to the efforts of USP Content – who are responsible for BBC Radio 5 Live coverage in the UK. The Podcast is presented by Holly Samos, with expert analysis from Observer correspondent Maurice Hamilton.
